The roller cage consists of a steel cage and several rollers. The rollers are held inside the cage which has no inner or outer ring. This type of bearing can be used in applications where the shaft and housing can serve as a raceway. Bearings of this type are able to support high radial loads due to the larger contact area of the rollers compared to the balls or needles. The cage is therefore able to support high loads.
As mentioned earlier, the main feature of roller cages is their high load capacity. Compared to needle roller cages, the rollers have a larger diameter, which makes the cage capable of carrying even higher loads.
In order to determine the right roller cage, it is important to measure the necessary dimensions. These include the inside diameter, outside diameter and thickness of the cage. If these dimensions are difficult to measure directly on the workpiece, we suggest using a caliper to obtain accurate measurements by taking the dimensions on the fixture.
