What is a GAC rod end?

GAC rods end are angular contact rods end. They are an alternative to tapered roller bearings. They comprise an inner and outer ring, which are separable and hardened. They are suitable for changing dynamic loads, and their inside diameter can vary from 25 to 200 mm. GAC spherical plain bearings are generally used for trailer axles, elastic hinge supports and in the transport sector.

What are the different types of GAC rods end?

There are three types of GAC rods end:

  • GAC..S: which is an angular contact rod end with a combination of steel/steel sliding surfaces. This type requires lubrication. A groove and a lubrication hole are present on the outer ring. This rod end can withstand temperatures ranging from -60 to +200°C.
  • GAC..CP: an angular contact rod end with hard chromium and PTFE sliding surfaces. It can withstand temperatures from -50 to +150°C and requires no lubrication. It is used where there is a minimum of movement with high loads.
  • GAC..SP: an angular contact rod end with steel and PTFE sliding surfaces. It can withstand temperatures from -40 to +150°C and requires no lubrication. They can support axial loads in both directions when used in pairs.
