What is a GX rod end?

GX rods end are grooved or plain axial spherical plain bearings with separable shaft and housing rings. They can support unidirectional loads, both axial and radial, and can replace Series 320.. tapered roller bearings.

There are three types of GX rods end:

  • GX..S rods end are grooved and have internal diameters ranging from 10 mm to 200 mm. The sliding surface combination is steel/steel. On this spherical plain bearing, the shaft crown and housing crown are hardened. They require lubrication and can withstand temperatures ranging from -60 to +200°C.
  • GX..CP rods end are non-grooved axial spherical plain bearings with a combination of hard chromium/PTFE sliding surfaces. The internal diameter size range extends from 10 to 360 mm. Lubrication is not required for this type of spherical plain bearing. These spherical plain bearings are ideal for high loads, but minimal movements. They can withstand temperatures ranging from -50 to +150°C. However, if the crown diameter for the housing is greater than 160 mm, it will not be hardened.
  • GX..SP rods end are non-grooved axial spherical plain bearings with a combination of steel/PTFE sliding surfaces. The inside diameter of these spherical plain bearings can vary from 10 mm to 200 mm. These spherical plain bearings require no lubrication and can withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to 150°C. When combined with radial spherical plain bearings, they can support radial and axial loads in both directions.
